Flying

Flying is probably the activity most associated with Air Cadets for obvious reasons and is one of the most enjoyable activities offered within the Air Training Corps. As part of Hythe Squadron you will fly at 2 AEF Boscombe Down in Wiltshire. A typical flight will last around 30 minutes with great flexibility as to what you get up to . Whether you want to learn to fly a powered aircraft, follow through on a touch and go, experience the thrill of aerobatics or just admire the view, every flight is unique and exactly what you want it to be.

After you have learnt the basic controls of the aircraft you will be able to fly the plane and carry out manoeuvres. For those thrill seekers out there I highly recommend asking your pilot to teach you some aerobatics. After the pilot demonstrates how the manoeuvre is done you will even be allowed to try it for yourself. Now how many people do you know that can say they flew a victory roll over Stonehenge or did a flyby of their own squadron. If you wish to further your flying skills flying scholarships are available. For more information contact your Commanding Officer.
